4 FRAME NUCS $220 by

Want professionally inspected bees this year?

In accordance with the Bee Act, these nucs will be inspected by a Provincial Apiculture Inspector for regulated pests including; varroa mites, American foul brood (AFB) and the small hive beetle (SHB). This is a vitally important step in honey bee biosecurity practice.

Your 4 frame nucleus hive will consists of a wooden nuc box, 4 Langstroth deep frames of drawn comb. The frames will be a mixture of newer wood and one piece frames. And contain:

  • 2 Frames of Brood & Hatching Brood
  • 1 Frame of Honey
  • 1 Frame of Honey & Pollen

All of our nucs and hives are from ‘Survivor Stock’ and contain VSH (Varroa Sensitive Hygiene) queens that were used to re-queen hives in the fall of 2017. We prefer to send out mother queens so customers have fewer issues with rejection. We will send fresh caged queens if requested. They will be either Italian or Carniolan queens. We stand behind these bees! Health guarantees and after sale support will be provided!

We can offer early spring delivery to Calgary because of the early start that the BC climate offers. Bees are expected to arrive late April.

BONUS – Earn $5 per nuc purchase for the CDBA! Enter code BEECLUB5 at checkout.

Apipasta - Easy to use Bee Paste

Bill Rayment: (403) 630-4848 or email

I have a supply of Apipasta Bee paste manufactured in Spain. It contains sugars used by bees: Sucrose, Glucose and Fructose with no HMF (HydroxyMethylFurfural). The product is vacuum packed into 1Kg heavy plastic bags - 15 in a box. The shelf life is reported to be 18 months.

It is currently used by a number of Alberta and Kamloops beekeepers and is gaining popularity there. Uses are the same as fondant: winter feeding but works well for starting nucs and packages when they need feed in cooler weather. Often used to supplement winter stores in the spring as insurance against starvation.

I personally use it for feeding my nucs. The bees love it. Quick application - no mixing - no soaking the cluster with wet syrup.

How to use

Cut a hole in the bag and place it on top of the frames or over the feed hole of your inner cover. If the weather is really cold - place it on the frames above the cluster so they have easy access.

The fondant comes in a 15 Kg box with 15 one kilograms sachets. There are two types:

Regular Fondant

  • Supplement winter feed
  • Feeding nucs
  • It reduces moister in the hive

Protein with Vitamins Fondant (special order for now)

  • This is used mainly for spring build up
  • Nuc feeding

  • 1 x 1 kg package $5.00
  • 1 box of 15 packages, 15kg $65.00
  • If shipping required - it is your cost
  • On your email please use the word "Fondant" in the subject line.

Wooden Bottom Boards and Outer Covers for EPS hives:

Allen Dick

Swallwell, AB
The EPS hive bodies accept the standard Langstroth deep frame. However, the walls are thicker than standard wooden hive bodies and require a large bottom board, inner cover, and outer cover. If you need extra bottom boards or outer covers contact Allen Dick. He has a surplus of these.

"They are of heavy wood construction, designed for maximum utility. I came on this design after using EPS boxes for almost two decades and have found them perfect for the job, summer and winter.

They fit the Beaver boxes nicely and are heavy enough not to blow off or warp. They provide a good seal on top when used with a canvas, plast ic sheet, or a pillow. They inside is designed to allow space under for placing patties or even a baggie feeder on top of the brood frames and a pillow or sheet keeps the bees from building burr comb after such items are removed. In Winter, a bag of insulation goes under the lids and they seal well.

These lids are designed to fit down over wooden supers In summer as well (with no top space to gum up). A sheet of plastic under is recommended to keep them from getting waxed up.

They are assembled and ready to use. Personally, I don't bother painting them as the cost and trouble is worth more than the cost of replacement in twenty years or so, but some do. "
