The Calgary Club has, previously sent equipment for sterilization to Iotron in Coquitlam, BC. Iotron has been purchased by Sterigenics.
The club normally sends equipment in April so deadout hive equipment can be used to start new colonies without concern of disease.
Currently, there is no volunteer to coordinate this program. If you are interested in volunteering for next spring, please contact a board member. They have the experience to guide you through the process.
You may wish to arrange for shipment to Sterigenics for your own equipment or in conjunction with other beekeepers. To book an appointment, please contact Sterigenics directly. Because of the minimum charge, an estimated 85 supers or more would be required to bring the costs to $5/box. Please confirm up to date prices with Sterigenics.
Unlike Iotron, Sterigenics may turn your order away should there be too much honey in your woodenware. They also may take up to a week to process your equipment.
